FULL BLOOMING

Olive trees blossom during spring. However, lack of annual blooming is often observed every second year, resulting in alternative bearing i.e. one year there is only vegetative growth and the other fruit production. This phenomenon is called ‘pareniaftoforia’ in Greek and reduces the annual yield of olive orchards significantly. Increased irrigation and nitrogen fertilization reduces that phenomenon, which in organic orchards is more intense.
