YELLOWISH TREES

YELLOWISH TREES

As a rule in most olive orchards, alternate bearing is so severe that every second year there is absolutely no-fruit formation. Meanwhile, intermediate years are characterized by extreme flowering and very high yields that compensate for that phenomenon. Flowering is actually so intense that trees acquire a yellowish appearance and olive orchards literally turn into dust fields due to pollen dispersion. Many farmers are in favor of alternate bearing for the reason that one year’s extra production compensates for the following no-yield year, while they benefit from spending harvesting costs once every two years.
